Primary and secondary education with community involvement
Sherford's eventual population of over 12,000 calls for four schools – one secondary and three primaries. Each will be located within neighbourhoods where they're not only easy to walk to and on the public transport routes, but also fully integrate with the wider community.
The secondary school will be in the vibrant south-west quarter of the town and will offer extended facilities for the whole community.
The three primary schools will be in the heart of their neighbourhoods, with direct access to green corridors and wider open spaces. They will also offer nursery schooling and some public facilities.
The Community Trust – jointly-owned by all residents – is proposed by Red Tree to be involved in the management of the assets and resources of the schools, working with governors, staff and PTAs.
